Synopsis:
Fall in love with Heart’s Landing, a romantic wedding destination, in the first book of a Hallmark series.

Jenny always dreamed of getting married at Heart’s Landing. But when she finally visits the charming small town, she’s there to make wedding arrangements for someone else: her cousin, who also happens to be her boss and a famous movie star. Her cousin wants a simple wedding, not a media circus. To keep the event top-secret, she’s talked her assistant Jenny into pretending she’s the one getting married. Nick, a baker and lifelong resident of Heart’s Landing, is intrigued by this bride-to-be who starts visiting his bakery for sweet treats and conversation. It seems strange that her fiancé isn’t at least little involved with the wedding plans. As Jenny tries to keep up with her fickle cousin’s ever-changing demands—which exasperate the florist, the caterer, and several other vendors—she tries to hide her attraction to Nick. Meanwhile, the people in town talk Nick into trying to distract Jenny with a sightseeing tour in order to keep her from changing her mind again. The more time Nick spends with Jenny, the harder it becomes to remind himself that she’s already spoken for. Planning this wedding couldn’t be more complicated…and what will happen once the truth comes to light?

My Thoughts

Heartwarming. This is how I can best describe this book. From the moment I started reading it, I knew it was going to be a beautifully written story with adorable characters and that small town flair that makes you feel like you're wrapped in the most comfortable blanket. It left me with the feeling that love is still real and a big fat smile on my face.

A Simple Wedding tells the story of Jenny, the personal assistant to a Hollywood leading lady, who is asked to plan her cousin wedding as her own to prevent papparazi and the press from ruining the day. But everything gets complicated after the actress begins to make increasingly complicated requests that put an entire city to run like headless chickens, while Jenny, who is supposed to be madly in love with her "fiancé," begins to fall for the handsome bakery owner, Nick. What started as a simple planning of her cousin's wedding becomes a frenzy of floral arrangements, catering, dress fitting and many other follies to create the perfect day of a wedding that seems doomed to fail.

I loved the two main characters and I feel they were perfectly created. I really have nothing bad to say about them; I loved the personality of Jenny, a strong and determined girl, I was able to connect with her from the beginning and I am very happy with the decisions she throughout the book because she never deviated from her characterization, I am also very happy how things turned out for her, but I suspected it, from the beginning I felt that the author was giving a clue as to how her story was going to end. As for Nick, I'm so happy with him, the most adorable and perfect man, a good example of how we need more sweet and lovely men in fiction.

I found the story charming, tender and credible. I love the idea of a town dedicated to weddings and to make bride's dreams come true. The only thing I didn't like very much, and that is why I give it four stars, is the fact that it was too descriptive, in my opinion. I feel that in some scenes the place was described too much or there was a lot of talk about the feelings of the characters that the actions that were supposed to be carried out were lost a little bit.

Overall, A Simple Wedding has been a very well written book with a beautiful treatment of the characters. It has been super fun to read, fast and easy, perfect for a pleasant afternoon with a hot drink or a glass of wine, beware, you'll probably end up with a terrible craving for cupcakes. I fully recommend it and can't wait to read other books in this series.
