| Synopsis:

My Thoughts
This is the second book in the Trials of Apollo series by Rick Riordan which introduces us to an Apollo punished to be a strange and awkward teenager with acne called Lester Papadopoulos after the events of Heroes of Olympus. Apollo must visit each of the oracles used in old days and free them from the bad guys who are preventing the power of the prophecies from flowing. In this installment, Apollo must face a challenge that hits too close to home and that challenges him in the cruelest way.
There are things I liked very much about this book but I didn’t like it more than book one; although my opinion of The Hidden Oracle There are things I liked very much about this book but I didn’t like it more than book one; although my opinion of The Hidden Oracle wasn’t quite favorable, I still spend a great time with it but here, not so much. I can’t say anything bad about Riordan's writing style, as well as his sense of humor because it really is the best he has as an author. At the same time, his way of using the mythology that we all know, and much more we don’t, and making it something extraordinary is even better, however, as far as the development of the plot, things get a bit complicated in my opinion.
I liked that there was a lot of action from the very beginning, there are dangerous encounters, fights with monsters and difficult missions, that's great because it kept me on the edge from the start. But by the middle of the book, I felt that everything that had to be said was already said, so many things had happened that I didn’t understand what else could occur. Of course, the most important part hadn’t yet arrived and it took half of book just to get into it, which didn’t seem quite right.

Este es el segundo libro de la saga Trials of Apollo de Rick Riordan que nos presenta a un Apollo castigado a ser un extraño y desgarbado adolescente con acné llamado Lester Papadopoulos luego de los acontecimientos de Heroes of Olympus. Apollo debe visitar cada uno de los oráculos utilizados en la antigüedad y liberarlos de los chicos malos que impiden que el poder de las profecÃas fluya. En esta entrega Apollo debe enfrentarse a desafÃo que resuena demasiado con él y que lo prueba de la manera más cruel.
Hay cosas que me gustaron mucho de este libro pero no me ha gustado más que el anterior; a pesar que mi opinión de The Hidden Oracle no fue del todo favorable, yo todavÃa pase un gran momento con él pero aquÃ, no tanto. No puedo decir nada malo del estilo de la escritura de Riordan, asà como su sentido del humor, porque realmente es lo mejor que tiene como autor. Por otra parte, su forma de utilizar la mitologÃa que todos ya sabemos, y mucha otra que no, y convertirla en algo extraordinario es aún mejor, sin embargo, en cuanto al desarrollo de la trama las cosas se ponen un poco complicadas a mi parecer.
Me ha gustado que hubo mucha acción desde el principio, hay encuentros peligrosos, peleas con monstruos y misiones difÃciles, eso es genial porque me mantuvo en vilo desde el primer momento. Pero, verdaderamente, a la mitad del libro sentÃa que todo lo que se debÃa decir ya estaba dicho, habÃan pasado tantas cosas que no entendÃa que más podrÃa ocurrir. Claro que la parte más importante del libro aún no habÃa llegado y se tomó la mitad de este solo entrar en ello, lo cual no me pareció del todo bien.

Nonetheless, Apollo improved a lot from the book one, and I was surprised on several occasions. He was always hilarious and his misfortunes regarding his mortality are funny to read, which is a very good point in his favor; however not been a proper hero, in this book Apollo faces many situations that have no reward for him.
By another hand, I don’t like everyone messing with Apollo and blaming him for everything that happens to them. I understand that his career as a god wasn’t quite spectacular, to say the least, but, even when I hadn’t been very invested in his history, I am seeing the change in him and I hope the others would also see it. And I still don’t like Meg, I feel that her character hasn’t grown at all compared to book one and rather exists to aggravate the reader's experience.

Aunque Apollo mejoró muchÃsimo a cómo era en el libro anterior, y me sorprendió en varias ocasiones, en especial en su carácter y redimirse como personaje. Él siempre fue cómico y sus desgracias con respecto a ser mortal son graciosas de leer, eso es un punto muy bueno a su favor; a pesar de que él no es un héroe como tal, en este libro Apollo se enfrenta muchas situaciones que no tienen ninguna recompensa para él.
Al mismo tiempo, no me ha gustado que todos se meten con Apollo y lo culpan de todo lo que les pasa. Entiendo que su carrera como dios no ha sido del todo espectacular que digamos pero asà como yo, que no he estado muy invertida en su historia, estoy viendo el cambio en él los otros deberÃan también verlo. Y aún no me gusta Meg, siento que su personaje no ha crecido en nada con respecto al libro anterior y más bien existe para agravar la experiencia del lector.

| In conclusion, although Apollo evolves monumentally as a character, the story as such lacks that magic featured on the previous series. The second half of the book becomes slow and uninteresting and, truthfully, not my favorite part. Of course, I loved having Leo back, not so much Calypso but she showed her courage when it was necessary. This book was entertaining but unfortunately, it’s not memorable and saying this causes me so much pain. | --- | --- | --- | En conclusión, a pesar de que Apollo evoluciona monumentalmente como personaje, la historia como tal carece de esa magia caracterÃsticas de las series anteriores. La segunda mitad del libro se vuelve lenta y poco entretenida y, la verdad, para nada mi parte favorita. Eso sÃ, me encantó tener a Leo de vuelta, no tanto a Calipso pero ella mostro su valor cuando fue necesario. Este libro fue entretenido pero lamentablemente, no es memorable, y decir esto me causa mucho dolor. |
