My Thoughts
This is one of the most difficult reviews I have made and isn’t because I hate the book, for the contrary, is because I LOVE it. There are so many feels around this book that I can’t control myself. Each page broke my heart a little and keeps me over the edge. The truth is I cry the entire book. And I’m not lying or overreacting, I literally cry since the first page of this book.
I read this book before the first, This Much Is True (which we shouldn’t), and I love it with all my heart, which is weird because often my favorite are the first book of each series I’ve read so far. So, you can imagine that be even better that the first for me is saying a lot of how good this book is.
The Truth About Air and Water started when TMiT finished but they’re written as standalone so you don’t lose anything, besides, through the reading you find out what happened – except for the Russian thing, you just get an slice of it but never the whole story (soooo frustrating). Tally and Lincoln are getting married and everything seems good but after the meeting with the Reverend that probably would marry them, they start to wonder if it’s a good idea after all (which you probably have guess I already was crying since this part). But then, when they decide to not care about what others say and elope to marry in Vegas, fate mess with their grips and destroy their plans.
So, here starts everything and “destroying their plans” doesn’t start to cover it. The author REALLY knows how to mess with us. She really does and she does it so well, that you can’t be mad at her when you heart is getting broken into millions of pieces. She created a real problem; something that could even happen to you, that when you sit for a minute, put yourself in Tally’s shoes and really think the situation, you’ll get all how she did that? How she handle all those stuff? How she didn’t lose herself in the process?
My heart aches for her and I admire how she controls herself and put Cara health first. This book makes me get angry with Lincoln, I’m still can’t forgive him not matter what could or not happened. Though, I understand everything, I have a problem with the cheat stuff, I can’t handle those kind of things even when I do know that isn’t the character fault.
Here, we perfectly see how much we are enemies of ourselves. Because it doesn’t matter how much Tally says the Russian girl is her archenemy, she’s the only enemy of her relationship with Lincoln as much as he is from his side. I think that one of the major lessons of this book is what we do – how strong we fight – to be with the person we love. And I’m very pleased that it has been developing through the series.
But what amaze me the most of this book is the fact that I never saw anything coming. For so many points of the read I thought they would never get back together, as other I thought they were perfect for each other. I got that move swing through all the reading and never could determinate the end till arrived. Though, the end is actually a bittersweet moment for me, because, like I explain before, I thought they should as they shouldn’t be together, even when I think that it was a good ending for the book.
Overall, I LOVE this book with all my heart. And it have been the BEST BOOK I READ THIS YEAR. There’s nothing wrong with it, everything fit so perfectly and it all well constructed that I can’t find a romance as perfect as this. And it is so touching that I couldn't pick another book for almost two weeks because nothing seemed to get even closer to this perfection. The only thing I wish for the next book of the series is that finally they could be together the entire book, or at least, half of it.
