Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

My Thoughts

So, this was part of the Lux Readathon hosted by Stuck In Books and Just a Book Lover, which I was part of. I haven't the chance to write the review of the book during the read but I'm going to post right now.

This could be probably my favorite book of the series. It has everything: humor, romance, action, sadness, hotness, EVERYTHING...  I love how much Jennifer get us into the story and enchant us with so much awesomeness.

*Since this point, if you haven't read Opal or the previous books of this series, you need to stop right here. Spoilers from Opal.

The things started just when Opal end it. After the rescue tries to get Beth out, Katy wakes, weak and disoriented, inside a Daedalus installation, in order to embrace and study her hybrid state. The only thing she can think is the fact that she is relieved because Daemon is not with her. By other hands, the only thing Daemon is thinking is in release her and that he would do anything to make it happen, even if means surrender himself. Now, both of them are under the hands of the DOD, they need to stick together in order to free themselves before it's too late.

I love how this book embraces everything we've loved from the previous book and made it better. Katy passed for so many things under Daedalus' hold that she change so much. But at the same time, she doesn't lose her essence. She is still a book lover/blogger, she is still the tough girl who won't let anybody goes above her, and sweet of heart even if she experienced bad things.

Also, I like the dual point of view because it allows us seeing inside Daemon head, and makes us fall in love with him all over again. Speaking of Daemon, he couldn't be more perfect in this book. So sweet and caring that make my eyes weep with so much love and feelings.

He did everything in his power to free Katy, to bring her back home with him. There was so much bitterness in those pages when they were apart, I hate the Daedalus so much for making that. But also, the dual point of view, let us see how much Daemon loves Katy, we have experience how she feels, and even when we know that he is crazy about her, thanks to this book we understand that there is more than that, it's a love that will survive the eternity and no matter which alien's wars come.

As well as Katy, he doesn't lose his personality. Although he seems more responsible and worried for Katy and everything she is passing through, he doesn't lose his amazing, cutting comments, and enchanting personality. I really, really love how much Jen keep true to what she has created and continues full filling our expectations.

Overall, there's LOT of actions in here, and new characters, which keep you guessing back and forward of which side they're are. So many surprises and few loses (some that I really want to make it myself). Origin was an amazing book and deserves a lot of credit for having all of its predecessors and more.
