Lux Readathon Day 1: Shadow by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Today start the Lux Readathon hosted by Stuck In Books and Just A Book Lover. The idea is read all the books into the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout before Opposition comes out! I'm participating on this with discussion in Facebook group and posting my fav quotes on Twitter. But today I'm here to post my review Shadow, the prequel of the Lux Series.

The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

My Thoughts

I haven’t read Shadow before; I mean, I’ve read all the Lux series till Origin but not the prequel. I think that is the fact that I see this like Katy & Daemon story, and also the fact that I knew how would end (not in a good way), and I was coward enough to not give it a chance.

Shadow is the little story of Dawson and Bethany a year before Obsidian start. They share a magical months before everything fallen apart. As mostly all the book of Miss Armentrout (except Unchained – for me), this was wonderful. I can’t even say that there was a flaw on it.

She knows how to catch our attention since the beginning of the book. But not only that, she’s so inventive that can create a whole new story with an amazing plot every single time. The plot of Shadow is very much entertaining; I think that Jen did a great job made it light, at the contrary to the other books of the series, and more about the love that Dawson and Bethany share.

I like Dawson, he is so wonderful and cute, and I love how he care for Beth that much, how he love her with all that passion, and how he would anything for her. He could be a lightly, more warming Daemon version, which is so wonderful to read. And Bethany is also a wonderful character; she is flawless, smart, likable, and very beautiful inside and out.

Jennifer has a spectacular way to make all her characters likable and believable. We can relate with them so much, and feel like what they living is actually, our own story, even if we never lived something like that before. And she is so entertaining, like, you can’t put down her books for more that you wanted.

You totally should read this book. It gives you a new perspective of how the Blacks live before the chaos started. And more into their own life and perspectives.

Shadow is a must read. A fabulous book that is wonderful as introduction of the Luxen world. Wonderful characters, amazing plot, and beautiful love story.

I give it 5 hearts
